JR. GUARDS

The Mission of the Clovis Junior Lifeguard Program is to provide quality training in a fun, safe environment for kids ages 9-15.
June 15 - 25 ONLY

Jr. Guard Program

  • Classes will be held daily at Island Waterpark. 6099 W. Barstow, Fresno, CA 93723
  • Check-in is from 8:00a – 8:15a daily. Check-in will be at the Main Entrance. Pick up is between 2:50p-3:00p at the Group Entrance. Please note the final day of the program is Thursday, NOT FRIDAY (Except JV Guards). Pick up will be the normal time.
  • All session participants receive a Hat, Shirt, Lifeguard Whistle and Certificate at the end of the program.I

SESSION 2

  • Classes will be held daily at Wild Water Adventure Park. 11413 E Shaw Ave, Clovis, CA 93619
  • Check-in is from 8:00a – 8:15a daily. Check-in will be at the Main Entrance. Pick up is between 2:50p-3:00p at the Group Entrance. Please note the final day of the program is Thursday, NOT FRIDAY (Except JV Guards). Pick up will be the normal time.
  • All session participants receive a Hat, Shirt, Lifeguard Whistle and Certificate at the end of the program.

JV Session, for kids 14+

June 15-19 we will be having a “Guards in Training” Program for kids ages 14+, with an option to come back and assist with the Jr. Lifeguard program June 22-25. 

REQUIREMENTS: The participant must either be 14 if they have participated in Jr. Guards prior, OR they must be 15 years or older. This course is designed to prepare kids to enter the workforce next year as lifeguards or waterpark employees.

  • Check-in is from 7:45a-8:00a daily. Check-in will be at the Gate Entrance, inside the park. Pick up is between 2:50p-3:00p at the Group Entrance. Please note the final day of the program is Thursday, NOT FRIDAY. 
 
STUDENTS SHOULD BRING DAILY:

Water jug, towel, sunscreen, bathing suit, and water shoes (or flip flops). The student is responsible for bringing their own lunch. Top Guard Training and Island Waterpark will not be responsible for lost or stolen property.

INSTRUCTOR/STAFF QUALIFICATIONS:

Top Guard Instructors have a combined 80+ years experience with lifeguarding, waterfront, and aquatics programs. Our teaching techniques are unique. For more than 30 years we have worked with summer resident camps, municipal governments, schools, and youth-based organizations. Our focus is beyond the skills of lifeguarding but centered around team building, communication, respect, and cooperation. These are the essential elements of lifeguarding.

Acknowledgement of Risk

I (we) recognize the element of risk in any adventure sport or activity associated with the outdoors. I (we) am (are) fully aware of the risks and dangers inherent in lifeguard training such as, but not inclusive of: hypothermia, exposure to inclement weather, immersion in water. Falling while on shore and/or entering pool, bites or spray by insects, animals or reptiles, exposure to chlorine and damage to or loss of personal property.

Knowing the risks and dangers, I (we) understand the possible  consequences of participating in such activity(s) include but are not limited to discomfort, injury or loss of life.

I (we) certify that I (we) have the necessary skills and ability to participate in the said activity(s) and assume full responsibility for myself (ourselves) for bodily injury, death and loss of personal property and expenses thereof as a result of my (our) negligence in participating in said activity(s) except to the extent such damage or injury may be due to the negligence of Top Guard Training.

I(we) also agree to abide by the rules or instructions given to me (us) either verbally or in writing by Top Guard Training. I am further aware that Top Guard Training may take photographic and/or film records of all classes and such records may be used for promotional and/or commercial purposes.

I(we) have read, understood, and accepted the terms and conditions stated herein and acknowledge that this agreement shall be effective and binding upon me (us) during the entire period of participation in said activity(s).

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are going to be late, please text the program director so we can be aware. We do not provide refunds for days missed. 

Children 12 years of age and older can re-enter the park after purchasing a WWAP admission ticket or using their Season Pass. 

There is a $35.00 charge for cancellations made up to seven (7 days) before the program begins. Cancellations made less than seven days before the first day of instruction will receive a 50% refund of fees. No refund will be given after the first day of instruction.

Once they turn 15 they can be certified. For this program they  are not eligible just yet, but will obtain some lifelong skills along the way.

No, all swim levels are welcome. 

A parent orientation packet will be emailed to you to fill out before the start of the program. At that time, you can make note of allergies and emergency contacts.
